Choosing the Right Fountain Pumps

The fountain pumps are an important part that can spoil the whole beauty of the fountain if it is not chosen properly. Therefore, choosing the right pump is very essential. If one is going to shop for the pump for the first time and doesn’t know what to look for, here are few specifications that can help in choosing the pump:

  • Gallons per hour (GPH) – It is referred to as the quantity of water the fountain pumps can push into the cascade in one hour. When one is purchasing the pump for standard indoor fountain, approximately 50 to 100 GPH pump is enough to buy.
  • Max head – It is the unit of measuring the height of the pump. A pump with max head as 5 will be able to push the water up to the height of 5 feet. For a fountain of 2.5 feet, one can buy the pump with max head as 3.

Besides the above specifications, there are other points which one needs to consider when buying the fountain pumps – whether pump is needed for indoor fountain or for outdoor one. It is also advisable that one should use the pump that accepts the supply from the solar cell. The solar cell converts the sunlight into solar energy that will help in running the fountain without any connections from an AC adapter. It will save the electricity to much extent.

One can take advice from various fountain manufacturers and follow the recommendations provided by them. Do not forget to ask for warranty or guarantee of the fountain pumps to be purchased. It is suggested that one should not buy the pumps directly from a single manufacturer. Make the comparisons from few stores or one can also search for the fountain pumps offline before any decision is made.
